Restylane is a type of injectable filler comprised of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the human body. In youth, the skin is rich in hyaluronic acid but as we age it diminishes. Restylane does not conflict with your body’s chemical composition. This makes it a comfortable and natural source of cosmetic enhancement.
As we age, lines and wrinkles develop on the facial skin and volume diminishes. At Revesse of Toronto, Dr. Robert Mounsey uses a variety of injectable fillers which are designed to restore volume to the face and improve many of the visible signs of age without surgery. It is used for lip augmentation, non-surgical facelifts, non-surgical rhinoplasty and to treat folds and wrinkles throughout the face.
Restylane® can be injected beneath the skin to restore fullness to hollow areas and improve facial wrinkles, creases and folds. The result is a smoother, more youthful facial appearance.
Treatment with Restylane
Dr. Mounsey performs Restylane treatments in the office setting. The injection involves little discomfort, though a numbing agent or topical or local anesthetic may be used to maximize the patient’s comfort. Dr. Mounsey injects the Restylane beneath the skin in small amounts using a fine needle. The process takes just fifteen to thirty minutes to complete.
There is little downtime or recovery associated with Restylane. As with any injectable, minor swelling or redness may occur at the injection site but these side effects are usually resolved within a few days. Patients can return to their normal return immediately after treatment. The duration of results with Restylane will vary from patient to patient but on average results may last anywhere from several months to over a year.
