Question: Are there some things that rhinoplasty cannot fix?
Answer: There are a number of things that rhinoplasty cannot fix and it’s very important for a surgeon to be upfront with the patient and to let them know right away. For example, if there is a problem with the actual skin or the discoloration of the skin or the blood supply to the skin, a rhinoplasty surgery cannot fix this. In general, rhinoplasty cannot change a very, very small nose into a very, very large nose or a very large nose into a very, very small nose. There are limits upon what can be done with the rhinoplasty. The rhinoplasty can help to reshape and increase balance and proportion to gain an aesthetic result, but in general the rhinoplasty has to work within the parameters of the natural tissues which are given or else the results can be very unnatural and the complication rate excessively high.
