Question : Can you explain what an S-lift type of facelift is?
Answer : The S-lift refers to a smaller incision in front of the ear to create a facelift. It is one of many limited types of facelifts compared to the traditional facelift which has a much larger incision. The advantages are that since it’s a smaller incision and a smaller dissection, it has less recovery time and may be done with a local anesthesia or local anesthesia plus IV sedation. Because there’s less surgery and less dissection, there’s the potential for less complications. However, the result may not be as long-lasting and it may not be appropriate for patients who need a more thorough procedure to rejuvenate the area of the face.
