Question: Can you please explain to me the similarities and differences between a facelift and a mini facelift?
Answer: A facelift and mini facelift are similar in a sense that the goal is to rejuvenate the mid face. The facelift uses a longer incision which is around the ear and may go into the scalp. The mini facelift uses a very small, very short in incision which is usually in the front of the ear and may curve slightly behind the ear. The length of the dissection is also different as in the mini facelift it’s much shorter. With a full face lift the dissection is much more extensive. A mini facelift quite often does not last as long as a full facelift in terms of length of time of rejuvenation, however because the procedure is shorter, the recovery time is quicker and it is generally less costly. There’s more downtime with the facelift because of a larger incision and more dissection. Also the facelift has an increased risk of complications, although these are low.
