Answer: Botox is a neuromodulator and it works by paralyzing the muscle which, even at rest, has a slight tension that helps to create some slight lines in the face. By paralyzing the underlying muscle, the skin is very smooth. The downside is that the facial animation or movement may be affected. Injectable fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm mechanically fill lines and smooth out the appearance of the skin, reacting in totally different ways. In general, the forehead is well treated with Botox and other lines and fillers of the face, especially deeper lines, are well managed by injectable fillers. A little combination of both can be used in some cases.
