Question : How do I know if I need a surgical facelift or if I can get away with some combination of nonsurgical options like Thermage, Botox, fillers, etc.?
Answer : The best way to think about this is that the surgical facelift can be considered the gold standard for results and longevity. All other techniques are trying to approximate this. The advantages are that they avoid surgery and may have less down time and may be more cost effective. In general, if you think that a lot of facial rejuvenation is needed, then it may be more cost effective to have a surgical facelift rather than having incremental procedures which over time may cost more than having a definitive facelift. However, if you just need some very minor rejuvenation, a combination of different technique restoring skin volume and filling lines may be the best option.
