Question : I have consulted with one surgeon in Toronto about nose surgery and he said that he can’t make my nose as small as I want it. Why would this be? Why can’t I have my nose as small as I want it?
Answer : There are natural limitations in what a rhinoplasty can achieve. The tissues and the healing all play a large role in what can we safely and honestly promise. If a patient desires changes that are too extensive and cannot be obtained, I tell them that this cannot be achieved. While most patients come to the office desiring a smaller nose, they often really want to have a better balance and proportion of the nose in respect to the face. So quite often, the patient will be very happy with the results and will think that their nose has been made smaller when it hasn’t really been made smaller and has just been brought into better balance.
