Question : I’m Asian from North York. I have a very low nasal bridge. What materials do you use to raise a nasal bridge, Gore-Tex, cartilage or silicone?
Answer : The goal of nose surgery is to create a natural result and that requires the use of natural tissue. I like to use cartilage. My first choice is cartilage from your nasal septum which is a tissue in your nose. If this cartilage is not available, cartilage can also be harvested from your ear and sometimes cartilage is harvested from your rib area. This cartilage gives a very natural result with no problems of extrusion, pain or redness. When synthetic materials are used, I’ve seen complications where these have to be removed due to pain, redness and infection.
