Question: I’m a 23-year-old female concerned about otoplasty. Can you give me some information about the post-op pain and discomfort of patients? I’d like to have an idea of how much pain I can expect on a scale of 1 to 10. How long does this pain last?
Answer: I find that pain varies considerably among patients. In general, the vast majority of patients experience a very minimal pain. However, some patients who have a very good post op course and no complications say that there is quite a lot of pain from reshaping the ear. In general, most patients have some pain lasting 3 to 4 days and at the end of 1 week are pain free.
