Question: I went to a very well-known surgeon. I had septoplasty and rhinoplasty and my nostrils were reduced. Immediately after surgery, my nose looked asymmetric and it still does 6 months later. I know it’s not just noticeable to me because I can tell people are looking at it when I’m talking to them. What should I do? Can I have this fixed?
Answer: Even in the best of hands, there may be asymmetries. No faces are perfectly symmetrical. The goal of surgery is improvement. It is impossible for any surgeon to obtain perfection. The first thing I suggest with any slight asymmetry is to wait for one full year to make sure that things are settled. After this, there are various options that can be explored if the appearance is still not satisfactory for you.
