Question: It’s been 2 weeks since my surgery and my nose has a very “ski jump” look to it that I don’t like. My surgeon says it will drop. Is this true? Will it eventually look more normal?
Answer: Two weeks is very early after the surgery to confirm the final surgery result. In the nose, I think you need to wait at least a few months before you can get a good idea of what the nose will look like. I think preop imaging is very important for the patient to see what the nose can look like and for the surgeon to see how to improve the nose. Occasionally, with over-resection of the nasal tissues, the nose may have this “ski jump” appearance. Some people like this appearance to the nose. But with preop planning and preop imaging, which I use in all my cosmetic surgical cases, I can show the patient exactly the look we are going to select postoperatively so there are no surprises for anyone.
