Question : I am a 62-year old woman. Can you help clarify the difference between a traditional facelift and a mini facelift? I want to have a facelift to help lift and smooth the sagging skin on my face.
Answer : The traditional facelift has a longer incision. The incision tends to go around the front and back of the ear and curving up towards the hairline. The mini lift incision is made in front of the ear in a slight crease. This is a smaller incision and has less dissection and the recovery time is quicker. Also, the procedure is more cost effective. However, the mini lift does not give you as long-lasting of a result as the facelift.
