Question: Is it possible to drive myself home after my rhinoplasty surgery or will I need to have someone else drive me?
Answer: After rhinoplasty surgeries involving, most commonly, a general anesthetic or on occasion a local anesthetic with intravenous sedation, I always advise my patients to have someone drive them home. I also recommend that somebody stay with them for the first 24-hours after their procedure at a minimum to make sure if there are any problems they can come back to the hospital quickly. We also don’t have patients leaving alone after the surgery so that the procedure can be discussed and any instruction can be given after the procedure. It’s important to remember that after the rhinoplasty surgery patients may not be able to remember all the details and instructions.
