Question : My son is six. My husband and I are interested in having him get ear surgery. Would it be possible to stay with him during the procedure?
Answer : The parents are encouraged to come in with the child while the child is receiving the anesthetic to go to sleep. This allows the child to go to sleep very comfortably and allows the parents to see how things are going. Also, before the surgery, the parents can have a tour of the surgical area with the child to see exactly what is done. During the surgery, the parents wait in the waiting room while the surgery is being performed. After the surgery is performed, then they can come out and speak to the patient and let them know that everything went fine.
