Question : I previously had skin cancer and I’d like to know if it’d be safe for me to get an injectable filler treatment.
Answer : It is safe to have an injectable filler depending on the skin cancer and where it was. There are many types of skin cancer. There are basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas and melanomas. Depending on how aggressive the skin cancer is, the likelihood of recurrence and the area, it may not be advisable to have a filler if in the future you may need to have that area of the skin resected. So, this needs to be carefully considered before it is decided. Especially with aggressive melanoma with a high likelihood of recurrence, you may not want to have a filler until you’re sure that there will be no recurrence that needs further surgery. You would not want to compromise any possible flaps in any way.
