Question : The tip of my nose looks like it has a bulb on it and I think I would look better if it were made a bit smaller. Is fixing this nose problem called rhinoplasty? Can my nose be fixed from inside the nose?
Answer : There many different approaches to fixing the nose. The experienced rhinoplasty surgeon chooses the most optimal approach to fix the problem. It is very important that your rhinoplasty surgeon be familiar with all the techniques to approach the nose so that you can have the optimal result. In general, most tip work is done with an open approach. This may involve a small incision on the area on the bottom of the nose called the columella. This type of work is referred to as rhinoplasty. Some deformities can be corrected with a closed approach. This involves placing incisions in the inside of the nose.
