Question: My daughter-in-law had a facelift a little over a month ago. She is very disappointed because she is really not seeing much improvement. The doctor keeps telling her that it will improve as she heals. Is this really possible?
Answer: In general with the facelift, the tissues will re-organize and heal up to one month after the procedure. Whether or not this is true in each individual case depends on what the patient is unhappy with. It is important to make sure that the patient understands what the facelift can do which is tightening the skin in the face. Occasionally, patients have a very thin face with a loss of volume as they age and facelifts will not restore this. They may need another procedure to restore volume. If this is the case their unhappiness will not improve in time.
