Q) I am a 27-year-old male who’s considering otoplasty. I’m wondering if the procedure would leave noticeable scars. Where are the scars located? What can you do to try to conceal the scars?
A) The scars of otoplasty are not noticeable. They’re located behind the ear. During the surgery, techniques are performed so that when the incisions are closed the scar is as fine as possible. Also, there is little pinching or pulling as there is a minimum amount of tension or pulling on the skin when it’s closed so the skin drapes nicely and minimizes the scars.
