Question: Since my revision rhinoplasty I’m very happy with the results except for an indented scar on my columella. My surgery was a year ago. Is there anything I can do to minimize the scar?
Answer: Revision rhinoplasty is a very complicated procedure. Frequently an incision is made on the columella to gain access to the nose. Depending on the previous surgery, the skin on the columella may have been changed so that you now have a scar that is not favorable. If the scar is not in a favorable position, some procedures may be able to improve the scar and make this result more acceptable to you. Quite frequently, when the incision on the columella is made, scars are invisible. After one year is a good time to have this examined as the scars should be very mature and you should have a good idea of what the scar would look like and how it can be improved. There definitely are procedures that may be available to improve this.
