Question: I’m in my final years of high school and I’m planning on getting a nose job. I’m getting it at the start of my spring break so that’s only a week or so before I’ll be going back to school and I’m sure it would be noticeable that I had a nose job. I’m really worried about that. Do you have any advice for dealing with this? What can I tell people?
Answer: Having your nose operated on during a holiday period is a very common request for patients. Usually after septorhinoplasty, there’s a cast on the nose which would remain for a week. There may also be some bruising of the nose and this may persist for a week or longer. However, after the cast is removed at the one week mark, quite often the appearance of the nose is such that the patient can go out and in a rather inconspicuous fashion. Patients may also want to use some make up as this may enhance the appearance further so that there’s very little evidence of having surgery on the nose.
