Question: I’m a forty-five-year-old woman who has been getting regular lip filler injections for the past 3 years. I’m really getting tired of this so I’m wondering if there are more permanent procedures for lip enhancement.
Answer: There are permanent lip procedures. Many of these procedures involve implanting synthetic tissue in the lip. However, there is some risk of extrusion or the procedure being ineffective. Some people also have transplanted natural tissues such as fat into the lip. There is some controversy among surgeons as to how much of this grafting tissue will remain permanently in the lip over a long period of time. It’s best to discuss your situation with an experienced facial plastic surgeon to determine whether or not one of the more permanent procedures is the right option for you or whether or not you need to continue with your lip filler injections which you seem very satisfied with.
